St Wilfrid's Catholic Academy has a Roman Catholic religious character, which contributes to the ethos and values of the school community.

The school educates mixed pupils aged 3 to 11. It currently has 342 pupils on roll with space for 315, offering a broad curriculum across all primary year groups.
